Communicators panel explores communicating effectively with Congress, Oct. 8

A panel of experts will discuss how working with members of Congress and other government officials can add a new dimension to a communications campaign, during a Lunch and Learn hosted by the National Press Club Communicators Team on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 12 p.m.

This virtual meeting is free and open only to Club members. Click here to register for the event.

Mike Fulton, a veteran Club member and director of public affairs and advocacy for the Asher Agency, will moderate a panel of experienced communications and government relations professionals to review the best practices for working with members of Congress and their staff.

Another NPC Communicator member, Lloyd Brown, the director of communications and marketing at the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO), will participate on the panel to discuss his successful engagements with lawmakers. He will be joined by Dana Richter, senior policy adviser to Sen. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, and Keysha Brooks-Coley, vice president, Federal Advocacy and Strategic Alliances at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

Many communications campaigns support efforts to pass legislation or establish regulations. The panel will explain why that even in times of divisiveness, working with government officials can help push an issue or a project over the finish line.
