Conference on Secrecy and Journalism Webcast at Club, 9:15 am Dec. 16

The Nieman Foundation's conference on secrecy and journalism will be webcast live in the NPC's Eric Friedheim Library and the Bloomberg Classroom at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec.16.

The WikiLeaks Iraq and Afghanistan war logs and the roll out of diplomatic cables are having an enormous effect on journalism. At this conference, a group of reporters, editors and watchdog experts will explore how secrets are investigated, shared and filtered (or not) in an era of self-publishing, online whistle-blowing, data mining and social media websites. It will discuss what journalism traditionally has been and what it can or should be in this new environment.
