Connect with the NPC freelance community

Whether you’re looking for freelance gigs, need advice on how to approach a client or just want to join other freelancers for a drink, the NPC Freelance Committee has something for you.

If you are an active freelancer, submit your name and contact information for inclusion in our online freelance directory. To view the directory, go to the NPC website, click on “membership,” then on “freelancers list.”

We encourage editors – both within and outside of the Club – to consult the directory when looking for freelance help. To be added to the directory, send a request to Sarah Driggs at [email protected].

Consider joining our private LinkedIn group. This is a virtual water cooler for NPC freelancers. We post gigs, news relevant to freelancers and requests for advice. It’s a great way to tap into the collective knowledge of the NPC freelance community. To get access to the group, you must first join the NPC group, Members of the National Press Club. Then connect with Tam Harbert (chair of the Freelance Committee), who will send you an invitation to join the NPC Freelance Committee subgroup.

Come to our bi-monthly freelance soirees. These are informal gatherings in the Truman Lounge of the Reliable Source, typically on a Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m., where freelancers share our experiences and discuss challenges. Our next soiree will be April 1, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Questions? Contact Tam Harbert at [email protected].
