Dalecki elected commander of NPC's American Legion Post

The National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 elected Kenneth Dalecki as its new commander on June 21. He succeeds John Hurley, who held the post for five years.

Dalecki, a former member of the NPC Board of Governors and a 28-year member of the Club, served two years of active duty as a Navy photojournalist in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. Post 20, founded at the NPC in 1919,is one of the earliest Posts in the Legion.

Dalecki's election was preceded by a memorial luncheon in honor of long-time NPC member Kenneth D. Blackshaw, a former Post 20 commander and Air Force lieutenant colonel who died April 14 at the age of 94.

Former NPC President John Cosgrove emceed the event and recounted Blackshaw's cheerful dedication to the Club and the Post. Betty Blackshaw invited her husband's NPC friends to attend his Mass and burial on Aug. 3 at 10:45 a.m. at the Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel in Arlington National Cemetery. A luncheon reception will follow at the Ft. Myer Officers Club.
