Deadline fast approaching for NPC members’ photo exhibit

Grab your camera, take some great shots that will impress your family, friends, colleagues, and Club visitors, and then enter them in the 14th Annual NPC Members’ Photography Exhibit.

Each member who submits photos will be automatically entered in a drawing for a chance to win a $100 NPC gift card, which can be used to purchase anything at the Club: A delicious dinner at the Fourth Estate restaurant, tickets to an NPC luncheon, NPC souvenirs or dinner and drinks at the Reliable Source restaurant.

The drawing will be held at the Members’ Photo Exhibit reception on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Club’s lobby and Library classroom. The winner of the drawing must be present to win.

Photo entries may be submitted starting on Monday, Aug. 5, and will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, in the NPC Membership Office. Register your photos on the sign-in sheet with your contact information and NPC Membership number.

The exhibition, sponsored by the Club’s Photography Committee, is open to all NPC members and will be on display in the Club’s lobby until Monday, Sept. 30.

Rules:

Photos must be taken by NPC members only and not displayed in previous NPC Photo Committee exhibits.
Each member may submit up to four photos. The maximum overall size for each photo (print and mat) is 11” x 14”. Any photo larger than 11”x14” will not be hung.
You must rank order your photos on the back with #1 for your favorite photo down to #4 in case there is not enough space to hang all your photos. Lobby display space is very limited.
Prints may be color, black and white, or hand-painted photos.
Prints must be securely mounted on sturdy mounting board. If matting is used, it must be securely attached. Improperly mounted/matted photos will not be hung.
All titles, descriptions, and/or your signature (optional) must be put on the front of the mat/photo. No separate descriptions are permitted due to space limitations.
No glass or frames are permitted.
Your name, email address, and phone number must be clearly written on the back of each photo.
There is no restriction, within reason, on subject matter. The National Press Club/Photo Committee does reserve the right to remove any photo that might be inappropriate.

Key Dates:

Monday, Aug. 5 – Friday, Aug. 16: All photos due in the NPC Membership Office.
Wednesday, Aug. 28: Photos will be velcroed and hung in the NPC lobby.
Thursday, Aug. 29 - Monday, Sept. 30: MEMBERS’ PHOTOS ON DISPLAY IN NPC LOBBY
Tuesday, Sept. 3: Opening reception, NPC Lobby and Library classroom, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 30 – Friday, Oct. 4: All photos must be picked up from the NPC Membership Office. After Oct. 4, photos will be left in the common area for one week until they are removed, since there is no storage space available at the Club. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Non-Residents/other arrangements: If you are unable to pick up your photos for any reason by Friday, Oct. 4, then you must include a pre-paid, self-addressed, return envelope with your photos when you submit them. The Membership Office will then return your photos.

The National Press Club, Photo Committee volunteers, and visitors to the NPC will treat your photos with care and respect. However, the NPC and the Photography Committee volunteers cannot take responsibility for any damage to or theft of a photo.

The National Press Club presents this annual Members’ Photo Exhibit to showcase the talents of its members. The photos and captions in this exhibit do not represent the views of the National Press Club.

This is an exhibition, and not a contest, and it is not juried.
