Downtown parking restricted during Reliable Source's extended hours Election Night

The Reliable Source will extend its hours Election Night for National Press Club members who would like to have dinner and view voting results. Parking restrictions will blanket most of downtown at the time.

The Club bar and grill will serve food until 9 p.m. and drinks until 10 p.m. on Nov. 3. Members can order food and drinks from the normal menu. The Club will close at the manager's discretion. Takeout also will be available.

The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department will prohibit parking on the following streets around the Club from 12 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4: F Street from 18th Street to 9th Street; G Street from 18th Street to 9th Street; and 14th Street from Constitution Avenue to L Street. The department also warned there may be street closures.

Members who wish to visit the Club election night MUST make a reservation using the online reservation form. If you intend to come to the Club for the election, please make your reservation as soon as possible so Club staff can plan the evening. The deadline for reservations is 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2.

Walk-ins will not be allowed on Tuesday evening. If you have a reservation, you will need to call the Club when you arrive, and a staff member will escort you in.

Potential risks, cancellation

As you consider coming to the Club for election results viewing, keep some important caveats in mind. Here's what you should know before you go:

  • Downtown D.C. may be a place of increased risk on Tuesday night, as more than a dozen organizations have applied for permits to protest starting Tuesday. Uber does not operate in this area if there are disturbances.
  • The National Press Building has covered all windows with plywood in an abundance of caution and for protection. The building is instituting a lockdown effective Tuesday night through Thursday morning. You will need to call us to let you into the building unless you are a building tenant.
  • The Club will be monitoring the situation and may have to contact members who have reserved to cancel the planned evening if the conditions downtown deteriorate and it becomes unsafe to visit the Club. Monitor your phone as this is a dynamic situation.
