Edney to be installed as Club president at General Membership Meeting, Friday noon

Andrea Snyder Edney, a breaking news editor at Bloomberg News, will officially take over the president’s gavel from current National Press Club President Jeff Ballou of Al Jazeera at the General Membership Meeting to take place at 12 noon this Friday, Jan. 19, in the Murrow, White and Lisagor rooms. Lunch will be served and all current members are invited to attend.

Club members elected Edney as the Club's 111th president on Dec. 8. She promised that the Club would help “strengthen our journalism community” to respond to an “unprecedented time” in the profession during her acceptance remarks in the Reliable Source.

Edney began her career with Bloomberg as a reporter in Prague in 1997. She has served as the Club’s vice president, secretary and treasurer as well as chair of the Scholarship Committee.

Also taking over for 2018 at the meeting, Alison Fitzgerald Kodjak will serve as vice president, Michael Freedman as treasurer, Ferdous Al-Faruque as secretary and Michele Salcedo as membership secretary.

Jen Judson and Peter Urban will serve on journalist seats on the Club board of governors for three-year terms. Kimberly Adams was elected as a journalist governor for a two-year unexpired term. Erik Meltzer and Molly McCluskey were elected to journalist board seats for a one-year unexpired term and Andy Fisher, a communicator Club member, won a three-year board term.
