Education Secretary on Future of Reform at July 27 Luncheon

Education Secretary Arne Duncan will discuss his priorities for education reform at a Luncheon on Tuesday, July 27.

The administration’s drive for education reform is running up against economic pressures. Duncan has been urging Congress to act soon to increase education funding because states face the prospect of teacher layoffs and school budget cuts, and to keep funding for the Race to the Top intact. But some lawmakers say the federal deficit is a bigger worry.

The luncheon begins at 12:30 p.m. Reserve at (202) 662-7501 or [email protected]. Cost of luncheon is $17 for National Press Club members, $28 for their guests and $35 for the general public.

To submit a question in advance, put DUNCAN in the subject line and email to [email protected] before 11 a.m. on the day of the luncheon.
