European Journalists Sought for Fellowship in Vienna

The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) seeks applicants for its Milena Jesenska Fellowships for Journalists 2011/2012.

The application deadline is April 15.

The program offers European journalists time off from their professional duties in order to pursue in-depth research on a topic of their choice. IWM strongly encourages candidates from Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan to apply.

Applicants are asked to relate their proposals to one of the main research fields of the IWM (for details please see www.iwm.at/research.htm). Additionally, this year proposals which focus on human are strongly encouraged.

The call is directed towards cultural journalists, however, applicants´ work may also deal with societal issues of European relevance.

The fellows will spend three months at the IWM in Vienna, Austria. They will receive a stipend of 7,630 Euros and are provided with an office, access to e-mail and internet, in-house research facilities, and other relevant resources in Vienna. Travel grants of up to 1,820 Euros can be paid for research trips to neighboring countries.

  • A concise project proposal in English (not more than 3 double- spaced pages)

  • A curriculum vitae including a list of publications
