This will be the first time a representative of the church has addressed a Press Club audience in 22 years. The Latter-day Saints Church is one of the fastest growing religions in America, and 16.8 million people worldwide belong to the church. The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest presiding body in the government of the church. Its members serve under the direction of the First Presidency, a governing unit of three men -- the president and two counselors.

The church recently renovated its iconic Washington, D.C.-area temple and has invited non-church members to visit in advance of an Aug. 14 rededication.

The event begins with lunch at 12:30 p.m. Remarks begin promptly at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer period.

Tickets are $25 for National Press Club members and $45 for general admission. Members should login at press.org to purchase discounted tickets.

To submit a question in advance for the speaker, put LDS in the subject line and email to [email protected]. The deadline for submitting questions in advance is 10 a.m. on the day of the event.

Visitors of the National Press Club must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon entry. See the Club's guidelines here
