Fish tacos on Taco Bar Friday evening

If it is Friday, it must be Taco Night in the Reliable Source.  The Friday taco bar is a one of the things for which the National Press Club is most renowned.  It was once said that legions of Capitol Hill staffers made it through their internships based on this Club tradition.

Having said that, we are always trying to keep the offerings fresh and timely.  We have offered turkey tacos, for those who do not eat red meat, spicy and non-spicy for those cayenne-averse, plant based “meats” for a chance for members to try a current trend, and this week we are offering salmon tacos.

There will be both tempura battered fried salmon, similar to the treatment of fish in Maui tacos, and sautéed salmon with onions for those eschewing fried food.  The usual accompaniments will be the same:  crispy corn tortilla, corn chips, soft flour tortillas and cheese, refried beans, Pico de Gallo, picante sauce, sour cream, shredded lettuce, jalapenos, sliced olives and guacamole.
