Former "Hanoi Hilton" POW to share experience at NPC Post talk, July 17

All NPC members are invited to join NPC American Legion Post 20 members for a talk by retired Navy Commander Everett Alvarez, Jr., the longest-held U.S. prisoner during the Vietnam War, at the Post's meeting at noon Thursday, July 17, in the McClendon Room.

Alvarez, who spent more than eight years in North Vietnam's infamous "Hanoi Hilton" after being shot down in the first days of the U.S. strikes against the North, served as deputy administrator of the Veterans Administration and Deputy Director of the Peace Corps after retiring from the Navy. He is CEO of the Washington-based business consulting firm Alvarez & Associates. He will begin his remarks at 12:15 p.m.

Post 20 is a Commemorative Partner in the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.
