Former White House press secretary Mike McCurry to speak at Communications and Marketing dinner, April 10

Former White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry will discuss his nearly four decades as a communications and political strategist in the nation’s capital at a dinner sponsored by the National Press Club's Communications and Marketing Committee on Thursday, April 10, in the Winners’ Room of the Fourth Estate Restaurant.

The evening starts with cocktails and networking at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner, remarks and conversation.

McCurry started his career in 1976 as press secretary for the chairman of the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee. He then worked for other senators and national election campaigns. In 1993, he became the spokesman for the Department of State, and two years later was selected as President Clinton’s press secretary, a post he held until the fall of 1998.

Today, McCurry is a partner at Public Strategies Washington and provides counsel to corporate and non-profit clients. He also is a distinguished professor of public theology at the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, where he earned a master's degree in theology last year.
