Friday: Southern Poverty Law Center CEO Huang to address growing hate crimes

Southern Poverty Law Center President and CEO Margaret Huang will address the increase in hate crimes in the United States and the current state of white supremacist groups in our nation at a National Press Club Virtual Newsmaker event on Friday, April 16, at 11 a.m.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) identified 838 hate groups and 566 antigovernment extremist groups active across the country last year in its Year in Hate and Extremism 2020 report released in February. In the first two years of the Trump administration, the number of a active white nationalist groups rose by 55 percent, the report found.
