Get it Online: Social media for policy advocacy, noon March 8

Beekeeper Group Partner Shana Glickfield will share strategies, tactics, and case studies on how to use social media to get your message heard by federal, state and local officials at noon on Tuesday, March 8, in the Games Room.

The event is part of the "Get It Online" lunch discussion series that brings experts in social media and digital communication to the National Press Club for a members-only lunch discussion. The speaker will deliver a short presentation and then will answer questions.

The cost is $15 for Club members and $75 for non-member guests, which includes a buffet lunch, water and iced tea, tax and gratuity. Register online.

Members and guests should plan to be seated by 12 p.m., and the event will conclude by 1:30.

Thanks to the widespread adoption of social media at all levels of government, organizations have an unprecedented opportunity to leverage these platforms to connect with policymakers and their staff. Glickfield will explore the ramifications for communicating directly or through your grassroots base.

She is a partner with Beekeeper Group, a boutique public affairs firm in Washington. With nearly 20 years of experience, Glickfield advises a wide variety of corporate, association and nonprofit clients on their online advocacy strategies, focusing on websites, social media and mobile technology.
