Historian David McCullough on special daytime Kalb Report on May 12

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough will join host Marvin Kalb on Thursday, May 12, to talk about the Founding Fathers, Freedom of the Press and America’s Future.

Unlike all previous Kalb Reports, this one will begin at 11 a.m. The event will be held in the National Press Club's Holeman Lounge, so seating is very limited. Club members should reserve by calling the front desk, 202-662-7500.

Along with winning the Pulitzer Prize for two of his biographies – John Adams and Truman - McCullough was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award a U.S. citizen can receive. He also won the National Book Foundation’s Medal for the Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.

The program is billed as “The American Story: A Master Class with David McCullough” as Kalb conducts a wide-ranging interview with the man acknowledged as a master of the art of narrative history to explore the founding fathers and mothers, the origins of the nation’s press freedoms, and the challenges facing American democracy today.
