Holiday Hoot to feature whistling champion, festivities, Nov. 30

The National Press Club Silver Owls Fall Hoot this year will be the Silver Owls Holiday Hoot, a gala party at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, to kick off the holiday season.

The Holiday Hoot is open to all Club members and their guests for $35 per person. Reservations are required and can be made online or by telephone at 202-662-7501.

It will be a memorable evening of entertainment, fun, surprises, and good fellowship. Headlining the entertainment will be Chris Ullman, "The Happy Whistler," a four-time international whistling champion who includes among his credit a performance for President George W. Bush in the Oval Office. He has whistled the "Star Spangled Banner" at Washington Nationals ball games as well as at professional basketball games.

Ullman's musical repertoire is extensive and amazing. It includes classical, popular, jazz, blues, Broadway, Christmas carols, and patriotic.

Ullman previously served as chief spokesman for the White House Office of Management and Budget. He currently is managing director and director of global communications for the Carlyle Group, one of the world's largest and most successful investment firms.

The Holiday Hoot will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, room for strolling, socializing and schmoozing and small tables for relaxing.

Surprises are in the works and will be announced as we get closer to the Hoot.

We will also welcome new Silver Owls who have been Club members for 25 years or more; Golden Owls with 50 or more years, and even Platinum Owls with 60 years as members.
