Independent authors at Club to share marketing, publishing tips, June 5

Are you an independent author sifting your way through the publishing, distribution, and marketing processes?

Here is your chance to swap ideas with fellow indie authors about the business challenges you face at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the McClendon Room.

A few guidelines. You must be:

-- A current National Press Club member.

-- Author of a book that is publicly available for sale (on Amazon, for instance). Print, ebook, POD, or audio book formats are fine.

-- Independently published (i.e., not with a traditional publisher, though if you have published using both the indie and traditional routes, you are welcome to join us).

Contact Club member Ed Barks at [email protected] to reserve your seat. There is no cost to participate.

Coffee service is available in the Truman Lounge for those who wish. If you are unable to attend on June 5, email Barks so that we can determine whether there is sufficient interest to make this type of group work.

What this is: An informal forum for independently published authors to discuss the business of authorship. A place to share successes and challenges with regard to the writing, publishing, marketing, and distribution of our books.

What this is not: A venue to read your work aloud or a writing critique workshop. It also is not an official National Press Club group; it is simply a collection of members seeking to get smarter about publishing and selling their work independently.
