Independent authors get advice from booksellers, Sept. 12

Is there a book in your future? Are you seriously considering making the leap from reporter or communications pro to author? Or perhaps you’ve already independently published one or more books.

If so, you’re invited to attend the next meeting of an informal group of National Press Club members who are independent authors/publishers. The next session is set for Thursday, Sept. 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the McClendon Room. If you are seriously considering independent authorship, contact Ed Barks in advance at [email protected] to reserve your seat.

September’s gathering will feature representatives from two local bookstores. Scott Abel of Solid State Books and Emilie Sommer from East City Bookshop will join us for a conversation about how indie bookstores and indie authors can better support each other.

Note that this is not a writing group. Rather, it is a forum for Club members to get smarter about the business, marketing, and distribution aspects of independent authorship. We gain wisdom and learn from one another, along with the occasional guest speaker.
