Independent authors to meet at the Club Jan. 9

The independent authors group of National Press Club members will learn how authors can get the most out of participating at writers conferences when it next meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in the McClendon Room.

Austin Camacho, one of the organizers of the Creatures, Crimes & Creativity Con, will share his insights into how such conferences can benefit authors, how they should prepare for such events, and how to get the most from them.

Camacho is the author of seven novels about Washington-based private eye Hannibal Jones, five in the Stark and O’Brien international adventure-thriller series, and the detective novel, Beyond Blue.

Advance reservations are required. Contact Ed Barks at [email protected]. Also contact Barks for more information about this group and how you may be able to participate if you are committed to independent authorship.

Independent authors manage their own publishing businesses rather than relying on agents and traditional houses.
