"Infidel" Author to Discuss Islam at Oct. 25 Luncheon

"Infidel" author and Muslim women's rights advocate Ayaan Hirsi Ali will discuss whether Islam is a religion of tolerance at an NPC luncheon on Monday, Oct. 25. The Q&A session is expected to cover such issues as women's rights, terrorism, education and peace prospects for the Middle East.

Hirsi Ali is a resident scholar with the American Enterprise Institute and founder of the AHA Foundation, created to protect the rights of women in the West from radical Islam and tribal custom. The second volume of her autobiography, "Nomad: From Islam to America--A Personal Journey Through the Clash of Civilizations," was published recently. The first volume, "Infidel," chronicled her early years in her native Somalia, her journey to Holland to escape an arranged marriage, her service in The Netherlands Parliament, the violent aftermath of a film she co-produced, subsequent threats on her life and her move to America.

The luncheon begins at 12:30 pm. Reserve at (202)662-7501 or [email protected]. Cost of the luncheon is $17 for Club members, $28 for their guests and $35 for the public.
