Institute launches 'Class of 2020' to spotlight the next generation of journalists

The National Press Club Journalism Institute begins spotlighting the next generation of journalists this week in its Covering Coronavirus newsletter and on its website. These journalism students are graduating from college or Master’s programs this spring into an extremely challenging job market, complicated by widespread work-from-home newsrooms that are shrinking faster than ever. The goal of the new program is to help these students meet future bosses and colleagues, who will reach out and support them in building journalism’s future together.

Inspired by Jill Geisler’s column advising these graduates on how to stand out, the Institute invited students to submit information, and will begin featuring the class of 2020 today, to introduce them to managers and leaders in newsrooms across the United States and around the world.

Journalism needs the next generation’s optimistic energy, enthusiastic problem-solving, and innovative ideas. If you’re a senior studying journalism, or know one, we’re accepting information here for students to feature in the future. If you’re a supporter, you can contribute here to scholarships for journalism students.
