Intersection of journalists’ work and lives is focus of Aug. 6 Journalism Institute program

A new virtual meetup, "You Are Here," will allow journalists to explore the intersection of their personal and professional lives beginning next month.

The event, sponsored by the National Press Club Journalism Institute, will focus on relationships, emotional well-being, safety and financial stability.

The first gathering is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6. Click here to sign up.

Journalists visit places they might not otherwise see, talk to people they might not otherwise meet, and capture experiences they might not otherwise document.

The program consists of a new series of community conversations designed as a safe space for journalists to meet virtually and explore topics that family and friends who aren’t in the field may not quite understand.

Other programs this year will be:

  • What’s bringing you joy in journalism right now? (Sept. 10)
  • How do I know when it’s time to go? (Oct. 1)

Meetings will be from 11:30 to noon the first Friday of each month, hosted and facilitated by Journalism Institute staff with a guest navigator joining some meetings.
