Jane Goodall to Club: I'm not on first-name basis with every chimp in Africa

This Week In National Press Club History

June 21, 1996: Primatologist Jane Goodall tells the Club that we have to understand primate animal behavior as humanity’s nearest link to the animal world. She denies knowing half the chimpanzees in Africa on a first name basis.

This Week in National Press Club history is brought to you by the History & Heritage Committee, which preserves and revitalizes the Club’s history through displays, events, panel discussions, lectures and the oral history project.
