Jazz Night May 23 features book talk, Blues Alley musicians playing jazz

"Jazz Men" bookIf it's May, it must be time for Jazz Night at the National Press Club!

The Club is once again hosting an evening of music with Blues Alley, Georgetown’s home for jazz, for an evening of great music, and this year there's a literary twist.

Larry Tye will be on hand Thursday, May 23, to discuss his new book "The Jazzmen: How Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Count Basie Transformed America." It looks mainly at those maestros' lives off their bandstands, and how they set the table for the civil rights revolution. The discussion starts at 6 p.m. in the First Amendment Lounge

The talk will be followed by some wonderful jazz from Blues Alley musicians, 7 to 9 p.m.

Please join us! The event is free for Club members and their guests. Register in advance.
