Job posting: Part-time work available for ex-print media reporter

Excellent opportunity for former or retired print reporter who would like to make extra money from time to time without ever leaving the comfort of his/her home. Seeking individual with strong print reporting experience but must no longer be an active reporter. Individual will work on an "as needed" basis helping me train executives and other high-profile clients for telephone interviews with the print media. Position is a contract position and paid on a "per assignment" basis. No travel required and individual can live in any city in Eastern or Central time zone.

Skills required include excellent telephone interviewing skills and the ability to write engaging news-style articles (usually no more than 900 and 1,200 words) from mock telephone interviews with corporate executives. Turnaround time for written articles can be within 4 hours up to several days. Individual should also be good at researching topics and for an assigned interview. Individual must be able to describe by phone his/her process for writing the article, i.e. why you selected certain quotes, was the interview subject interesting, easy to interview, etc. This part of the job will never take longer than 45 minutes.

Individual will need a good quality telephone connection—high-quality VOIP or land line—for conducting telephone interviews and for the post-interview "debrief" during a training session.

Position is with an international communications consultant providing top-tier training, coaching and consulting for Global 1000 companies, government agencies, associations and other high-profile individuals for media interviews, crisis communications, keynote speeches, and presentations. Based in Washington, D.C.
