Join Social Media Campaign to Promote Club Journalism Contests

This is crunch time for the National Press Club’s journalism contest. You can help us get the word out before the April 1 deadline by joining our social media campaign.

If you’re willing to send out a daily message for the last two weeks, please drop an email to [email protected] and get on our daily list for the messages that can be re-sent on Twitter and Facebook or any other method for reaching out to journalists. Several on the Young Members Committee have already agreed to help, but we need more helpers.

If we get lots of participation, we can reach people who might enter the contest. We’re trying other methods like a sponsored post in Romenesko in March and bulk emailing, as well.

We’ll also be looking for a few members to help fill in the last few gaps in our judging ranks. This is for our journalist members and for communicators with a journalist background. If you’re interested, drop a note to [email protected] with the word ‘judge’ somewhere in the subject line. Mention any specific expertise in reporting or editing that might help with the judging.

One last area we need to make a push, if anybody knows a news photographer or photo editor who might be willing to enter our photo competition, encourage them to enter and share their contact information, so we can send them the details about our photo category. Remind any members who are photographers that entering the contest is free for members.

Let’s demonstrate the power of the Press Club network on social media when we make an aggressive effort!
