Journalism contest offers cash award for best political analysis

The National Press Club is looking for your best political analysis writing from 2020.  Please enter that work in the journalism contest’s Lee Walczak Award for Political Analysis.

This award is named in memory of Lee Walczak, a Washington editor, bureau chief and White House correspondent who worked for Bloomberg News and Business Week, and recognizes excellence in political analysis. There is a cash prize of $750 for the winner.

The entry should be one article or a series of no more than three articles on a consistent topic. Judges will consider entries that, like Walczak's work, explain why things happen by describing new developments, putting them in context and forecasting the outcome.

The cost of an entry is free for Press Club members and $75 for non-members. The deadline is April 15. Entry details are available online.

The contest includes categories for consumer news, politics, online journalism, breaking news, photos, coverage of elderly issues, humor writing, stories about animals and their well-being, the media and other issues.

The awards will be presented later this summer at an event sponsored by the National Press Club.
