Journalism Institute looks at impact of artificial intelligence March 26

Francesco Marconi, who helped lead the development of artificial intelligence for the Associated Press and The Wall Street Journal, will discuss the technology in Friday, March 26, in a program sponsored by the National Press Club Journalism Institute and the Press Club’s communicators team.

Registration is now open for this program, which will take place online from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Topics to cover include how AI is being used and will be used by journalists and communicators, and what that means for how we work; the ethics of AI, particularly related to diversity, equity and representation; and the role of AI in the spread of misinformation and ‘fake news,’

Marconi is a computational journalist and the co-founder of information company Applied XL. His book, Newsmakers: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Journalism, was published by Columbia University Press in 2020.
