Journalist and author Maria Hinojosa to discuss new book, immigration policy at Headliner book event, Nov. 12

Award-winning journalist Maria Hinojosa, an expert on immigration and the Latino experience in the United States,  will discuss her new book, “Once I was You: A Memoir of Love and Hate in a Torn America” at a National Press Club Headliner Book Event at 4 p.m. on Nov. 12.

“Once I was You” is a deeply personal story of Hinojosa’s own experience of moving to the United States from Mexico and a powerful indictment of U.S. immigration policy under Democrat and Republican administrations.

Hinojosa is the anchor and executive producer of the Peabody Award-winning show "Latino USA."  In 2010, she founded Futuro Media, an independent nonprofit organization that produces multimedia content from the perspective of people of color. She also is the co-host of "In The Thick," Futuro Media’s new political podcast. She has previously worked at PBS, NPR, CBS and CNN.
