Learn how to use Library's database to find sources, Feb. 12

It’s all about who you know, and potential sources for your stories are everywhere. Learn how to use the Leadership Connect database at a Library How-To seminar on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 8:30 a.m. at the National Press Club.

The training is sponsored by the National Journalism Institute, the nonprofit affiliate of the Club. It is free for members and $5 for non-members. Register online. Walk-ins are welcome.

Leadership Connect is a database designed to find correct contact information for people and organizations. Whether you are trying to find the policy director for a member of Congress, board members for a foundation, or news media contacts, you can access Leadership Connect digitally in the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library.

Representatives from Leadership Connect plan to demonstrate how to use the database. The information resource is available at no cost to Club members and is among the various tools available to help your reporting. This training session is one in a series of workshops intended to introduce you to databases and resources available in the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Identify leaders, committees and staffers focused on specific issues;
  • Research contacts you plan to meet;
  • Find the right reporter at the right outlet; and
  • Identify prospects, among other features.
