The COVID-19 pandemic meant Americans could no longer engage in the same way with cultural institutions. The Library of Congress moved rapidly to craft a digital approach to connect with Americans, including the upcoming National Book Festival on Sept. 26 and Sept. 27. The library's 20th National Book Festival will be the largest virtual event in its history and will focus on American ingenuity and inspiration.

Hayden was sworn in as the 14th Librarian of Congress on Sept. 14, 2016. She was first woman and the first African-American to lead the national library. She previously served as CEO of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore.

This one-hour program is accessible to both the media and members of the general public free-of-charge.

Hayden’s remarks will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Viewers can send questions via email to [email protected].
