Lobby Display Marks Kennedy-Nixon Debate

A display in the 13th floor Club lobby commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first televised series of debates between presidential candidates John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.

  • The Kalb Report at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, in the ballroom. Host Marvin Kalb the panel will examine presidential debates past and present. Participants are CBS News chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer; Sander Vanocur, who participated in the 1960 debates; Judy Woodruff of the PBS Newshour; former Clinton press secretary Mike McCurry; and Janet Brown of the commission on presidential debates.   • An interview with makeup artist Lillian Brown at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the 4th floor NPC broadcast studio. Brown applied makeup to both Kennedy and Nixon before three of the four televised debates in 1960. The program will also be available streamed on the NPC website along with a radio podcast version.
