Marine Corps head of public affairs to address American Legion Post 20, Nov. 14

Brigadier General William Seely III, USMC, director of the Office of Marine Corps Communications, will be guest speaker at a luncheon meeting of American Legion Post 20 at 12 noon on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the McClendon Room.

General Seely will address the Marine Corps' public affairs priorities and challenges. The speaker portion of the meeting is open to all Press Club members.

General Seely oversees Marine Corps public affairs, including media and community relations. A 28-year Marine Corps veteran, his many operational deployments have included four tours of duty in Iraq. A graduate of American University, he received his commission through the Navy ROTC program at George Washington University.

Post 20 has a noteworthy military-related lineage, having been founded in 1919 at the urging of famed General John J. “Black Jack” Pershing. At the time General Pershing was serving in Washington and was an associate member of Press Club.
