Gallo on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. on the Millennial Stage North.

"Margherita" is the story of the Jewish mother of fascism comes to Washington and guess who’s following (or stalking?) her. This historically-based two-act drama examines the 25-year relationship between Margherita Sarfatti and Benito Mussolini between 1911 and 1936 during a three-day encounter in 1939 as Margherita, both Benito’s former muse and mistress, is trying to leave the country. This play is under contract to Browne-Nederlander for New York production.

Following Margherita, musical excerpts from the folk opera "Lincoln and God" plan to be premiered. Gallo co-wrote the opera with John Ward. The opera examines the complex relationship between the nation’s sixteenth president and his God during the Civil War. Hear songs from "Love Is Eternal" to "This is America."
