Member receives French prize for book on terrorism, a day before Paris attacks

Club member Phillppe-Joseph Salazar received one of France’s most prestigious literary awards for non-fiction, the Prix Bristol des Lumières, in Paris on Nov. 12, barely a day before the terrorist attack in the city.

The timing of the prize propelled his book, “Paroles Armées, with the subtitle (in French) “How to Understand and Combat Terrorism,” to widespread mention in media coverage of the attack. Special editions of newspapers cited it on their front pages, and it was featured in “war room” radio and television programs.

The book has had four printings, and a new edition is scheduled in January.
