Members' exhibit to feature electronic photo display, deadline: Aug. 11

This year's National Press Club members photo exhibit gives pro and amateur photographers a new way to show off their sparkling images with an electronic display online and at the exhibit itself. The electronic display joins the print exhibit that runs Aug. 31 to Sept. 29. Photos for both the print and electronic exhibits can be entered between July 31 and Aug. 11.

The electronic exhibit is optional for exhibit participants, but like the print exhibit, it's a display of NPC members' visual story-telling talent. It is not a contest. There are no judges or prizes awarded.

You can enter your images in the print exhibit only, electronic exhibit only, or both. Because of space limitations, members may enter up to two images in the print exhibit, but a maximum of four photos can be entered into the electronic display. Like the print exhibit, entries in the electronic exhibit must be taken by NPC members only and not displayed in previous NPC Photography Team or Committee exhibits.

The Photo Team asks that members submit enter high-quality images in the electronic exhibit, with the larger the size and higher the resolution, in dots per inch, the better. Files should be in *.jpg, *.jpeg, or *.png formats. Only still photographs are accepted. No screen shots, line art, video, or animation are permitted.

Noel St. John, the Press Club's photo coordinator, is accepting images for the electronic exhibit between July 31 and Aug. 11. Send your photos as attachments in an e-mail message to Noel at [email protected]. In the message, please give your name, NPC member number and telephone number. For each image sent in, give the file name, title, caption and optional keywords.

More details on submission of photos for the electronic exhibit are found on the NPC Photo Team's web page. Member log-in is required.

Beginning on Aug. 31, the electronic photo exhibit will accessible for browsing online and displayed in a continuous loop on big-screen monitors with the print exhibit in the Press Club's main lobby through Sept. 29. A gala opening reception is set for Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The electronic display will supplement the Press Club's 18th annual print exhibit. Because of space restrictions, the print exhibit this year needs to limit entries to two photos per member. As before, entries in the print exhibit can have a maximum overall size -- print and mat -- of 11"x14". Prints must be securely mounted on sturdy mounting board. If matting is used, it must be securely attached. Entries for the print exhibit are accepted in the Press Club's membership office from July 31 to Aug. 11. Full rules and deadlines are also available on the Photo Team's web page.
