Members invited to hear about presidential campaign spouses then and now, Wednesday noon

Club member Janice Law invites National Press Club members and friends to a noon at noon Wednesday, April 4, in the McLendon Room sponsored by American Women Writers National Museum a four-year old nonprofit founded by Law.

Patricia Krider, executive director of First Ladies Museum and Library in Canton, Ohio, will provide visuals and historical perspective on the role of spouses of presidential candidates.

No reservations are required.

Before American women got the vote in 1920, spouses of presidential candidates were rarely seen or heard. Now the social media juggernaut demands almost as much from a candidate spouse as from the candidate, with equal exposure and probing.

If you need a unique campaign sidebar, Krider will host an extended question period after her presenttion, which is free and open to the public.
