Memorial service, dinner to celebrate life of Sho Chandra, April 6

Bloomberg News and National Press Club friends will celebrate the life of Shobhana Chandra at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Club.

The memorial service will last until 4:30 p.m. in the Holeman Lounge. If you plan to attend, RSVP to [email protected].

Chandra's family also will host a dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Crystal Room in the Willard Hotel across the street from the Club. If you plan to attend the dinner, RSVP to [email protected] no later than the end of the day on Thursday, April 4.

Chandra, an economics reporter in the Washington bureau of Bloomberg News and a National Press Club member for more than 13 years, died Feb. 20 at Dulles International Airport after arriving on a flight from India.

Chandra, better known as “Sho,” was an active Club member and one of the eight editors of the Wire. She was also a member of the Club’s Scholarship Team. She received the Club’s prestigious Vivian Award for volunteer work several times, including most recently last December.

Chandra was on the board of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing, which will hold a separate memorial for her in May.
