Menu announced for "La Frontera" event with celebrity chef Pati Jinich, May 9

Pati Jinich, the James Beard Award-winning creator of “Pati’s Mexican Table” on PBS, will visit the National Press Club May 9 to talk about to her latest project “La Frontera,” an exploration of the culture and cuisine of the U.S.- Mexican border region.

"La Frontera" launched in late 2021. In the first season, Jinich followed cattle as they crossed the border from Mexico into the U.S.,  lunched with truckers under an overpass, found a female-only Mariachi band, and tasted some top-notch BBQ.

Club President Jen Judson will interview Jinich about her plans for Season 2 of "La Frontera." The event will open at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail. The talk will be followed by a reception focused on foods from "La Frontera."

Tickets are available here.

“This project allowed me to get back to my roots,” Jinich said. “While food and teaching others to make food will always be my passion, I also find what is happening on the border between Mexico and the U.S. to be so compelling and often disturbing and generally misunderstood."

Jinich, who studied international relations at Georgetown University, said she wanted to look at the border region "in a way that focuses on the shared culture and history on both sides so that we see it as part of a region if it is in Mexico or Texas."
