Mercy Corps chief executive plans to highlight countries in crisis, March 25

Mercy Corps chief executive Tjada D’Oyen McKenna plans to address humanitarian efforts to protect the world’s most vulnerable communities during a global pandemic at a National Press Club Headliners Virtual Newsmaker event at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 25.

The one-hour program will stream live and is accessible to both the media and members of the general public free of charge. You can access the event or download a calendar reminder here.

Mercy Corps, a non-governmental aid group, works in more than 40 countries, including conflict zones and difficult access areas. It is one of the few non-governmental organizations still working in Syria, now in its 10th year of civil war. The organization says the COVID-19 pandemic is worsening food insecurity, unemployment, economic and gender inequality, and conflict.

D’Oyen McKenna's remarks are expected to be followed by a moderated question-and-answer session. Viewers can send their questions via email to [email protected]. Please put Mercy Corps in the subject line.
