A message from NPC President Mike Freedman and Executive Director Bill McCarren

The following is a joint message from National Press Club President Michael Freedman and Executive Director Bill McCarren:

In keeping with our yearlong commitment to provide safe work space and refuge for credentialed journalists covering the pandemic, protests, the presidential debates, and the election, the National Press Club will be available on Tuesday, Jan. 19, and Wednesday, Jan. 20, to fully credentialed reporters who register in advance of next week's presidential inauguration.

Members should be aware that the Club is within the perimeter of perhaps the most comprehensive security zone ever established in the nation's capital and are therefore urged to avoid the area. No walk-in traffic or regular reservations at the Club will be allowed during the inaugural period. The Club will be closed on Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Credentialed journalists interested in reserving a workspace at the Club should do so online here

In accordance with District of Columbia guidelines to help control the spread of COVID-19, the Reliable Source and Fourth Estate restaurants within the Club are closed.

Rarely in the history of our country has the work of journalists been more important than over the past year, and in particular in documenting the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. We salute our colleagues on the front lines for your courage and your commitment to accuracy, fairness, and truth.
