NAACP President Derrick Johnson to speak on issues of representation in arts and entertainment at Headliners event, March 31

NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson will discuss issues of Black representation in the arts and media at a National Press Club Headliners event at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31.

The one-hour program will be streamed live on the Club’s website as well as the YouTube Channel. It is accessible to both the media and members of the general public and free of charge.

Johnson will discuss the NAACP Image Awards, which honors outstanding performances in entertainment and the arts, and the importance of representation and recognition in Hollywood.

He also will address many issues the organization has focused its efforts on, including corporate accountability in the wake of the death of George Floyd and the recent NFL/Fox deal, overhauling policing, addressing the hesitancy of some Blacks to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and canceling student debt. 

Johnson will also share how the 112-year-old organization has evolved since he took the helm in October 2017.
