NAACP President Jealous to speak on Trayvon Martin case at NPC luncheon Aug. 29

Benjamin Jealous, president and CEO of the NAACP, will address a National Press Club luncheon on Aug. 29 about issues raised by the George Zimmerman trial and "Stand Your Ground" laws.

Jealous, the youngest person ever appointed to lead the the NAACP, the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization, has asked the Justice Department to investigate whether Trayvon Martin's death was a hate crime. Zimmerman was found not guilty June 14 of murder in the shooting death of Martin, an unarmed 17-year-old.

The luncheon begins at 12:30 p.m. Remarks begin promptly at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session. The event ends at 2 p.m.

Tickets cost $21 for National Press Club members and $35 for non-members. NPC members may buy two tickets at the member price. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
