National Press Foundation seeks director of training and content

The National Press Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free training and education to journalists to increase their knowledge of complex issues, is seeking a director of training and content..

The person in this position is responsible for creating, developing and implementing training and education for journalists in all formats. Implementation includes oversight of program-specific marketing, social media, application process, program logistics and speaker preparation. He or she often is the “face of NPF” as moderator of in-person programs and video webinars/interviews. Candidates should have curiosity about new trends in journalism and a track record for innovation.

Requirements: At least 10 years of editing or reporting experience, preferably at a national publication; some Washington experience preferred. Active profile on social media. Knowledge/use of new digital tools. Familiarity with data and all types of news presentation. Solid organization and time management skills. Experience creating high-quality content across multiple distribution channels. Familiarity with online publishing and CMS management. Some domestic and international travel.

Specific job duties:

n Develop ideas for new programs in all formats – webinars, as well as half-day, full-day and multi-day training.

n Flesh out with topics and top-notch speakers to train journalists.

n Develop full agendas. (Research topics and speakers, create the schedule, issue invitations, follow-up with emails and conversations with speakers).

n Moderate all programs.

n Moderate video webinars. (Research topics and speakers, prepare script and questions, correspond with speakers, fellows, experts, funders, etc. as needed).

n Write/edit promotional materials and turn training into website content.

n Supervise NPF social media.

Salary Range: $95,000 to $105,000
