Navy chief of information to address Post 20 on Feb. 20

Rear Admiral Charles Brown, Navy Chief of Information, will be guest speaker at a luncheon meeting of the National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 on Thursday, Feb. 20, at noon in the McClendon Room.  He will discuss the Navy's public affairs program, particularly priorities and challenges.
 
All Club members are invited to attend the speaker portion of the meeting.
 
A 1994 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Adm. Brown has been a public affairs officer (PAO) for more than 20 years.  He has served as PAO for the Pacific Fleet and the Third Fleet, special assistant (public affairs) to the Chief of Naval Operations, PAO for the Naval Air Forces, and aircraft carrier and battle group PAO for the USS Constellation (CV 64) and Cruiser Destroyer Group One.  He has also served as deputy PAO for the Fifth Fleet/U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, deputy PAO for Naval Surface Forces and fleet media officer at the Fleet Forces Command.  
 
Post 20 was founded in 1919 at the suggestion of famed WW I Gen. John Pershing, who was an associate member of the Club.  It commemorated its 100th anniversary last Nov. 19.
