Newseum photography director plans speech to Photo Committee, Wednesday April 20

Indira Williams Babic, director of photography and visual resources at the Newseum, plans to speak to a luncheon meeting of the NPC's Photography Committee, Wednesday, April 20, at noon in the NPC's McClendon Room.

The meeting is free and open to all National Press Club members. No RSVP is necessary. Lunch will be available at the buffet and salad bar adjacent to the McClendon Room starting at noon. The program will begin at 12:30 and wrap up around 1:30 p.m.

Babic oversees the research, acquisition, digital processing, rights management and preservation of the Newseum's collection of more than 500,000 historic images including a complete collection of Pulitzer Prize photographs, which she plans to discuss. She has managed and curated all of the images that have appeared in Newseum exhibits since the museum opened in its current location in 2008, including the original 14 galleries and more than 35 changing exhibits.

Patty Rhule, director of exhibit development at the Newseum. Rhule, a founding editor at USA Today, is expected to join Babic.

Ruhle oversees the writers and editors who produce the Newseum's permanent and changing exhibits.

Babic and Ruhle plan to show photographs from the Newseum's collections and engage in a question-and-answer session with attendees following their talks.
