Newseum Photography Director to speak to Photo Committee on Wednesday April 20

Indira Williams Babic, Director of Photography and Visual Resources at the Newseum, will speak to a luncheon meeting of the National Press Club's Photography Committee, Wednesday, April 20, at noon in the McClendon Room.

The meeting is free and open to all NPC members. No RSVP is necessary. Lunch will be available at the buffet and salad bar adjacent to the McClendon Room starting at noon. The program will begin at 12:30 and wrap up around 1:30 p.m.

Among the Newseum's holdings is a complete collection of Pulitzer Prize photographs. Ms. Babic's presentation will include a discussion of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize photographs which will be announced Monday, April 18.

Ms. Babic oversees the research, acquisition, digital processing, rights management and preservation of the Newseum's collection of more than 500,000 historic images. She will be joined by Patty Rhule, director of exhibit development at the Newseum. Ms. Rhule, a founding editor at USA Today, oversees the writers and editors who produce the Newseum's permanent and changing exhibits.

Ms. Babic and Ms. Ruhle will show photographs from the Newseum's collections and engage in a Q&A and discussion session following their talks. At the conclusion of their presentation, if time allows, they will show a short video about the Pulitzer Prizes.
