Nieman and University of Chicago to offer free journalism conference on 2016 election, May 8

Take a deeper look at how technology and money are changing elections at a conference for journalists in Chicago May 8 and 9 sponsored by The University of Chicago Institute of Politics and the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard.

The conference will convene some of the nation’s top political strategists, party leaders, and campaign consultants and the journalists who cover them. Discussions will explore topics such as the changes in the 2016 party nomination process, the latest advancements in voter targeting, and how journalists can follow the record-setting amounts of money flowing into the race.

Confirmed panelists include NBC News’s Chuck Todd, RNC chair Reince Priebus, DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, The New York Times’s Jonathan Martin, strategists Steve Schmidt, Stephanie Cutter, and Kevin Madden, CBS News’s Julianna Goldman, POLITICO’s Ken Vogel, The Cook Political Report’s Amy Walter, and many more.

The conference is free to attend and open to journalists from all platforms, but registration is required and space is limited. Journalists whose news organizations are not able to pay travel costs can apply for a travel stipend. Interested journalists must submit an application to attend the conference and/or receive financial assistance before Friday, April 10 and will be notified about the status of their application by Friday, April 17.
