Nominations close Friday for club board, officer elections

Nominations for 2013 National Press Club board and officer positions will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26.

There are four open board positions for members in journalist categories - three three-year terms and a one-year term to fill the unexpired term of current Board Chairman John Hughes, who has submitted his resignation in order to run for Club treasurer.

There is also one three-year opening for a communicator member of the board.

Press Club officers serve one-year terms, so all five positions -- president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and membership secretary -- are also open.

Only the signatures of members in good standing are considered valid on nominating petitions.

Members should be aware that only signatures of members in journalist categories are counted on nomination forms for club officer and journalist board positions. Likewise, only communicator member signatures count on petitions nominating members for the communicator directorship.

Nominating petitions are available for signing on the 14th floor, outside the President's Office at the top of the stairway.

Questions should be directed to Melinda Cooke, membership director, at [email protected].
